The Big Mo

I forgot that I had promised Jenni a date night last night. So even though I felt like death I swallowed some Imodium, loaded up Percy in the car, and off we went to The Big Mo.

After less than 45 minutes of driving from Augusta buried among peach trees in Monetta South Carolina is The Big Mo. It’s a 2 screen drive in showing double features and I love the place. The total cost of Jenni and I to get in was $14 (they let Percy in free). We pulled in and parked in the last row because even though we were there and hour before showtime the place was packed. We sat there for an hour socializing and answering questions about Percy while we waited on the movie. Percy seemed to love every minute of it. Of course he loves doing anything when it means he isn’t left alone.

I’ll admit I was a little worried about how good the viewing experience would be cause sitting there looking at the screen all I was thinking about was how small it looked. As soon as the sun went down and the movie started playing I didn’t give it another thought. Sitting there with my wife cuddled up to me and my dog snoring in the back seat I couldn’t imagine a better way to watch a movie.

We left before the 2nd feature because I was still feeling bad which I hate but I have already promised Jenni we would go back in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully we can take the nieces and nephews.

I now understand why my parents used to talk about going to the drive-in so much. If you are trying to make plans for a weekend I highly recommend going to The Big Mo.

Today started off really bad. I wound up taking the laptop upstairs, streaming netflix, and laying in bed all day. I was feeling a little better by the time Jenni got home but not by much. I have the feeling this is going to be bad for a few days.

Day 2

Woke up this morning feeling better than last night even though I am having a mild flareup. Other than that not much to report at this time.

Other than some mild abdominal cramping and gallbladder pains today was an ok day.

Humira vs Crohns Disease Day 1

Today I started taking Humira for my Crohns. My doctor is hoping that this will do the trick and get my flareups under control. I’m even in a quality of life study to see how well Humira helps Crohns patients. I’m still taking the Pentasa and Imuran for right now but hopefully will be off them soon, possibly in the next month or so.

I’m using the pen delivery method. It’s really simple, take the caps off and “push the button Frank”. It’s almost painless but you are a bit sore after the injection due to the thickness of the Humira. My first dose was four shots and I felt some side effects very quickly. I got really dizzy and nauseous but was told that was normal since I had just taken two months worth of the medicine at one time. In two weeks I will take two more shots and one shot every two weeks after that.

One of the great side effects of me taking Humira is that it will also help my arthritis. Now this is something I am really looking forward to. Being able to move around painlessly is unbelievable to me. I think I am more excited about this possibility than I anything else.

I’ll be using this blog to keep track of my progress so check back if you are interested on how things are going. Below is a picture of me giving myself the first injection. I tried to get a video of it but the file was corrupted. Next time I will get one.
