Star Trek S1E4 “The Naked Time”

Star Trek – Season 1 Episode 4 “The Naked Time”

I prefer to call this episode “Drunk Sulu will stab you with a sword” So far this has been my favorite and it’s so good they remade it in The Next Generation. Also shirtless Sulu is better than shirtless Kirk. Kirk and Spock sharing their feelings with each other was like watching a train wreck. You cringe but you can’t stop watching. I would not have batted an eye if they had started making out right then. I also want to point out that if they went back in time three days couldn’t they have just hailed themselves and stopped this episode from ever happening?

Star Trek S1E3 “Where No Man Has Gone Before”

Star Trek – Season 1 Episode 3 “Where No Man Has Gone Before”

Another good episode and a fantastic example of overacting. This is the 2nd pilot and the first featuring Captain Kirk. I have no idea why it was moved to the third episode. They really should have shown this before “The Man Trap” as I am pretty sure a bunch of people never tuned back in after that craptastic episode. I also want to go on record saying Sally Kellerman is a beautiful woman. I loved it when Mitchell talked to Kirk about his “long-haired” books. I laughed so hard I had to pause it. We also get another shirtless Kirk and some judo chops! This episode sets the tone for the entire series and has almost every Trek cliche in it.

Star Trek S1E2 “Charlie X”

Star Trek – Season 1 Episode 2 “Charlie X”

This episode makes up for “The Man Trap”. My first thought watching was Charlie is the oldest teenager I have ever seen. Why does Kirk have to strip down to teach Charlie karate when everybody else is fully dressed? Was that in Shatner’s contract or something? *Spoiler Alert* If the Thasians can bring people back after Charlie killed them why can’t they just take the powers they gave him away?

Star Trek S1E1 “The Man Trap”

Star Trek – Season 1 Episode 1 “The Man Trap”

I had a hard time making it through this episode. It was just really boring to me and I couldn’t get into it. Dr McCoy is a freaking medical professional and doesn’t think anything about his old girlfriend not aging a day? Hell even when he talks about it nobody says “Uh buddy she looked old to me”. She’s trying to kill Kirk and he still thinks she’s his old flame?!? And instead of standing there telling her to shoot him why didn’t Spock just shoot her?

Rewatching Star Trek

I have decided to watch every episode of every series of Star Trek since they are on Netflix. According to Wikipedia I have until June of 2013 to do this as they contract will expire then. I started using getglue.com to keep track of the episodes and post a blurb about each one and figured I really should do it here. Now I am not going to write an essay on each because it’s freaking Star Trek, just a paragraph or so of what I thought about each one. Some of these might even be serious!
